The organization for avian veterinarian is called The
Association of Avian Veterinarians. This can be a good place to start in your search for a good doctor for your
lovebird. However, you should also try to find someone who can personally recommend a veterinarian. This should be a person who has used this veterinarian's services for some time and has had positive experiences. This is not to say no
lovebird should ever have died under the veterinarian's care.
Lovebirds are extremely vulnerable creatures prone to fast-moving ailments to which they can quickly succumb before a veterinarian can intervene. It simply means they have given proper and appropriate care to their feathered patients. A reference from a
lovebird store or breeder can also be valuable. These people tend to visit veterinarians on a much more frequent basis than the typical pet owner and will have a good idea of the quality of care available in their area.
All these vets were recommended by breeders and/or bird owners. Their quotes are included after the listing. These are personal recommendations based on individual experiences with these vets. This list does not imply any endorsement by Parrot Parrot. It simply serves as a place for bird owners to find an experienced avian vet in their area.
