The most important thing to recognize about lovebirds is that they are indeed parrots. Because of this, they are extremely intelligent and, at times, willful. Treat your lovebird the way you would any parrots, even though it is much smaller than many parrot species. Issues such as dominance, cage territoriality, and nippiness can develop in lovebirds if you do not tale proper steps to prevent these behaviors. This means you must begin the training process the first day you bring your lovebird home.
