Home Picking Lovebird as a Pet The Mith About Pairs
The Mith About Pairs PDF Print
Many people, even pet store owners, believe the myth that lovebirds must kept in pairs. While seeing two lovebirds cuddling on perch is certainly heartwarming, they will not pine away and die without a mate. This is particularly true if you get a tame lovebird bonded to humans. Generally a tame, hand-fed lovebird that has recently weaned will transfer its bond to the new owner very quickly. When a young lovebird is still in the presence of the breeder or its siblings, the lovebird may seem more interested in them. However, as soon as it realizes you are now its flock, a socialized bird will quickly come around.
