One of the questions often heard by prospective parrot owners is, "What is a good starter bird. They all require similar care and training. One of the great aspects of keeping lovebirds as pets is the fact that they can be similar to larger parrots yet are much easier to house. They have the curiosity, intelligence, and playfulness that you see in larger parrot species. They can be as willful as an Amazon and as cuddly as a cockatoo. You need to approach these lovebirds the same way you do in larger parrots. This means using the same training and socialization techniques you would with any lovebird in this class. They are not low-maintenance parrots just because they are small. They need as much interaction, play, exercise and training as their larger counter-parts to remain calm and enjoyable pets.
